Reverse description Central device consisting of the Belgian royal coat of arms — a shield bearing the rampant lion of Belgium — surmounted by a royal crown and flanked by two symmetrical sprays of oak and laurel branches tied at the base. The denomination 1/4 F is displayed prominently on either side of the shield, with the fraction to the left and the letter F to the right. The date appears in the exergue below the wreath. The encircling legend L'UNION FAIT LA FORCE (Unity Makes Strength), the national motto of Belgium, arcs across the upper field.
