Obverse lettering CHARLES X ROI DE FRANCE.
Reverse description The royal arms of France — a shield semé of fleurs-de-lis — surmounted by a royal crown with fleurons and arches, displayed centrally in the field. The denomination 1/4 appears to the left of the shield and F (for Franc) to the right, with the date below in exergue. Flanking the base of the shield are the privy marks of the mint director and engraver general. A toothed border frames the design.
