| Obverse description | The denomination '0.25' dominates the central field in large numerals, with the word 'EURO' inscribed below. Integrated within the numeral '5' is a stylised armillary sphere bearing the Portuguese shield, referencing Portugal's maritime heritage. The legend '·REPÚBLICA PORTUGUESA·' curves along the upper border, while the lower border carries the inscriptions 'AU 999‰', '1/20 OZ', the date '2010', and the engraver's name 'ESCULTOR•ESPIGA'. |

| Additional information |
Camões died in 1580 — the same year Philip II of Spain absorbed Portugal into the Iberian Union, a dynastic accident that would strip Portuguese sovereignty for sixty years. The timing made Camões, author of Os Lusíadas, a convenient national martyr, and his image has been conscripted for Portuguese commemorative coinage repeatedly since the nineteenth century.
The INCM's quarter-euro bullion series, launched in the 2000s, targets collectors rather than circulation, with mintages kept deliberately low.
