| Obverse description | At center, the globe of the Earth is depicted with the Euro symbol '€' positioned along its left side between the two poles. A procession of stylized childlike silhouettes, holding hands, originates from the upper left and encircles the Earth through an arc of approximately 270 degrees. A stylized dove carrying an olive branch appears to the left of the globe, symbolizing peace. The legend 'RÉPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE' arcs above, with the '€' symbol incorporated into the field. This design was created by students of the École Jean Jaurès in Bort-les-Orgues, Corrèze. |

Launched in 2002 to coincide with euro cash changeover, this issue was part of a Monnaie de Paris program inviting French schoolchildren to submit coin designs — the winning artwork selected from tens of thousands of entries. It was never intended for circulation, issued strictly as a collector piece, which explains why surviving examples are almost universally found in original packaging without a mark of handling.
