Obverse description Central field occupied by a floriated cross (croix fleurdelisée), its four arms terminating in fleurs-de-lis and surmounted at the top by a royal crown; a small fleur-de-lis ornament appears at the base of the vertical arm. The cross is of the double-filet type with a quatrefoil centre, characteristic of late Valois-Navarre coinage. A circular Latin legend surrounds the design within a toothed or grained inner border.
