Obverse description Draped bust of Friedrich August II (Augustus III as King of Poland) facing right, wearing a flowing wig with long curled locks in the Baroque manner. A small orb or globus cruciger surmounts the top of the composition above the head. The peripheral legend in Latin encircles the effigy, reading D:G:FRID:AUGUST:R:P:D:S:I:C:M:A:&W., citing his titles as Elector of Saxony, King of Poland, and associated dignities. The portrait is rendered in high relief with fine detail to the drapery and hair.
