Obverse description Full-length armored figure of King Christian IV facing right, wearing a crown and cuirass, holding a scepter in his right hand and an orb in his left. The king stands boldly in the field, depicted in the vigorous Renaissance style typical of Danish hammered gold coinage of the mid-17th century. The surrounding legend reads CHRISTIA · 4: D:G:D:R:, identifying the monarch as Christian IV, King of Denmark by the Grace of God. The compact flan and characteristic irregular hammered edge are consistent with the quarter ducat denomination of this series.
