| Obverse description | Saint Mark, seated at left in bishop's vestments, extends a staff surmounted by a cross and pennant toward the Doge Pietro Grimani, who kneels in homage at right in ducal robes. The scene is rendered in the traditional investiture format characteristic of Venetian coinage, with the mintmaster's initials placed in the exergue below. The surrounding legend identifies the saint, the doge, and his title in abbreviated Latin. |
