Reverse description Central device displays an ornate heraldic shield bearing a pattern of small crosses arranged in rows, surmounted by a displayed eagle or bird with wings spread, the whole supported within an elaborate baroque cartouche with scrolling foliate mantling and pendant chains or tassels to either side. Above the shield rises a jewelled crown. Below the shield, within a small circular frame, appears the denomination numeral '4', indicating the quarter-ducat value. The field is plain and the rim shows a fine milled or beaded border.
