Obverse description The arms of Zürich — a vertically divided shield bearing diagonal stripes on the dexter side — are displayed at center, supported by the rampant lion of Zürich facing right, holding an upright sword in its right paw. The lion is rendered in high relief with a flowing mane and a curling tail. The circular Latin legend MONETA REIPVBLICAE TIGVRINAE runs around the periphery, interrupted by the lion's figure, and is bounded by a beaded inner border.
