| Obverse description | Left-facing draped bust effigy of George Washington, based on John Flanagan's classic portrait design, rendered in high relief against a smooth field. The legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA arcs along the upper periphery, while QUARTER DOLLAR curves along the lower border. The word LIBERTY appears to the left of the portrait at mid-field, and the motto IN GOD WE TRUST is inscribed in three lines to the right.
