Reverse description Central design features a relief map of the state of New Mexico overlaid with the Zia sun symbol, the sacred emblem of the Zia Pueblo people, rendered in bold raised lines at the center of the map. The state name NEW MEXICO arcs along the upper rim, followed by the year of statehood 1912 directly below. The motto LAND OF ENCHANTMENT is inscribed in three lines to the lower left of the central device. The year of issue 2008 and the motto E PLURIBUS UNUM appear along the lower rim. The engraver's initials DE are visible at the lower right of the central design.
