| Obverse description | Left-facing draped bust effigy of George Washington, based on John Flanagan's classic portrait derived from a Houdon sculpture. The legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA arcs along the upper periphery, while QUARTER DOLLAR appears along the lower border. The motto IN GOD WE TRUST is inscribed in three lines to the right of the portrait, and LIBERTY is positioned to the lower left of the bust. No mint mark is visible in this bullion issue. |

The America the Beautiful silver bullion series launched in 2010 as a direct companion to the circulating quarter program, with five-ounce strikes produced for each national park or site featured that year. Mount Hood National Forest in Oregon was among the inaugural five subjects. These bullion pieces were struck at Philadelphia — unusual for a bullion program — and sold through the Mint's authorized purchaser network rather than directly to the public, a distribution model that briefly caused allocation disputes among dealers in the program's first months.
