Obverse description The allegorical figure of Liberty is depicted seated left on a rock, her body turned to face right, draped in classical robes. Her left hand rests upon a heraldic shield bearing horizontal stripes, while her right arm is raised, holding a liberty pole surmounted by a Phrygian cap. Thirteen six-pointed stars are arranged around the periphery of the field, seven to the left and six to the right. The date appears in the exergue below the central device, with no arrows flanking it.
