| Reverse description | The reverse of the host 2 Reales displays the crowned Spanish royal arms at center, flanked by the Pillars of Hercules with banderoles, a design characteristic of Lima Mint milled coinage of the late 18th century. The partial legend around the periphery reads HISPAN · ET · IND · REX · MÆ · 2 R · J · P ·, indicating the denomination, mint assayer initials, and royal title. A central hole, punched during the Haitian countermarking procedure circa 1811, disrupts the central shield. The reverse retains enough detail to confirm the Lima (LM/ME) mint and assayer initials IJ. |
