| Obverse description | Crowned half-length armored effigy of Philip II, King of Spain, facing left and holding a scepter in the right hand, with a heraldic shield of the Habsburg-Spanish dominions displayed at the base of the figure. The portrait is rendered in the late-Renaissance hammered style typical of the Habsburg Low Countries mints. A beaded inner border frames the design, with the Latin legend running along the outer margin. The coin exhibits the characteristic irregular flan shape of a hand-struck piece. |
