Obverse description Central floriated cross with heart-shaped terminals at each arm, ornamented at the crossing with a small rosette or pellet. The four arms of the cross display elaborate fleur-de-lis style floral decoration, characteristic of the sixth type of Henri IV's quarter-écu coinage. The surrounding circular legend in Latin reads the king's titles, with the date appearing within the legend. The coin is struck within a beaded inner border, typical of hammered French royal silver coinage of this period.

Reverse description Crowned shield of France bearing three fleurs-de-lis arranged two over one, flanked on either side by the Roman numeral II (denoting the quarter denomination), with the mint mark of the Compiègne workshop placed in the exergue. The crown above the shield is rendered in an ornate Renaissance style consistent with late 16th-century French royal coinage. The entire design is enclosed within a beaded border, and the surrounding Latin religious legend is separated from the central device by the inner circle.
