Reverse description Central device depicting a tall coconut palm tree in full frond, a motif emblematic of Ceylon, rendered with fine botanical detail and flanked by the denomination inscriptions in Latin, Sinhala, and Tamil scripts. The circular legend CEYLON · QUARTER · CENT arcs across the upper field, while the date 1904 appears in the lower exergual area flanked by decorative stops. The Sinhala legend සතය and Tamil legend சதம் are positioned on either side of the palm, reflecting the multilingual character of the colonial issue. The reverse was engraved by Leonard Charles Wyon and exhibits the restrained elegance typical of Royal Mint pattern coinage. The overall composition is balanced and heraldically precise within a plain, polished field.
