Reverse description Central design features an upright palm tree within a beaded inner circle, flanked by the denomination fraction 1/4 in the field. Sinhalese script (සතය) and Tamil script (சதம்) lettering appear within the circle on either side of the palm tree, identifying the denomination in the two principal local languages of Ceylon. The legend CEYLON · QUARTER · CENT and the date 1904 are arranged around the outer periphery, separated by ornamental stops, with a beaded border at the rim.
