Obverse description Bare-headed and draped bust of Elector Charles Philip (Karl Philipp) facing right, rendered in high relief with naturalistic detail to the hair and drapery. A continuous Latin legend encircles the effigy along the coin's rim, reading CAR PHIL D G EL PALATINUS with the date 1736 integrated into the legend at lower right. The field is smooth and unadorned, focusing attention on the portrait. The overall style reflects the accomplished baroque engraving tradition of the Palatinate court workshops.
