Obverse description The national coat of arms of Panama occupies the central field, flanked on either side by the silver fineness designation 'LEY GR 0.900' and the weight '6.25'. The legend 'REPUBLICA DE PANAMA' arcs along the upper periphery, with the national motto 'PRO MUNDI BENEFICIO' inscribed below it. Nine stars are arranged in an arc immediately above the shield. The date '1961' appears in the lower exergue beneath the coat of arms.
