Obverse description The coat of arms of the Republic of Panama occupies the central field, flanked by the national shield displaying a sword, rifle, cornucopia, and fasces within a quartered escutcheon, surmounted by an eagle with outstretched wings. Nine stars arranged in an arc above the arms represent the nine provinces extant at the time of issue. The legend REPUBLICA DE PANAMA curves along the upper periphery, while the motto PRO MUNDI BENEFICIO is inscribed on a banner below the shield. Silver fineness and weight notations (LEY GR 0.900 6.25) appear in the field, with the date of issue below.
