Obverse description Left-facing draped bust of Queen Victoria, crowned with a small imperial crown and wearing a pearl necklace and an ornately engraved bodice with scrollwork detail, her hair dressed in a chignon. The effigy, engraved by William Wyon, displays fine portrait detail characteristic of the early Indian colonial coinage. The legend VICTORIA QUEEN is inscribed in the field, reading upward on the left and downward on the right. The border consists of a continuous toothed (dentilated) rim.
