Additional information

The KM# Pn1 designation marks this as a pattern issue — a trial piece struck for approval rather than general circulation. Bikanir was among the smaller Rajputana states that periodically sought to establish their own coinage under British paramountcy, a process requiring negotiation with colonial authorities who were increasingly consolidating monetary control across the subcontinent by the 1890s. Whether this quarter anna ever received sanction for full production is answered by the pattern designation itself.
