Additional information

Mahbub Ali Khan's administration made several attempts in the 1890s to modernize Hyderabad's coinage toward a more rationalized system, and this pattern quarter anna was part of that experimental phase. The state ultimately retained its own distinct currency rather than fully aligning with British India's imperial coinage structure — a position Hyderabad's diwans negotiated carefully to preserve the Nizam's financial autonomy.

As a pattern, this piece was never released for circulation. The KM#Pn6 designation confirms it remains outside the regular series entirely.
