The KM#530 quarter anna saw its production window cut short by the demands of wartime metal procurement. By 1940, bronze alloys across British imperial mints were being scrutinized for redirection toward the war effort, and small subsidiary coinage for India was among the first casualty of those supply pressures. The 1940 issue is notably scarcer than the 1938 opening date.
