| Obverse description | Third-portrait crowned effigy of Queen Elizabeth II facing right, as sculpted by Raphael David Maklouf, wearing the George IV State Diadem and a light drape at the shoulder. The legend ELIZABETH II arcs along the left field, GIBRALTAR along the upper right, and the date 1997 descends along the right. The Pobjoy Mint privy mark PM appears discreetly in the lower field beneath the bust. The design is executed in proof finish against a deeply mirrored field. |
