| Obverse description | Right-facing crowned effigy of Queen Elizabeth II after the third portrait by Raphael Maklouf, depicting the Queen wearing the George IV State Diadem and a draped robe with a pearl necklace. The legend ELIZABETH II arcs along the left rim, with ISLE OF MAN continuing along the upper right, and the date 1989 positioned at the lower right. The mint mark PM appears at the lower right of the legend. The portrait is rendered in fine relief with detailed hair and crown work characteristic of the Maklouf effigy used on Isle of Man coinage from 1985. |

The Isle of Man's platinum cat series occupied a deliberate commercial niche in the late 1980s bullion market, issued under the authority of the Manx government specifically to compete with established fractional bullion programs from South Africa, Canada, and China. The Persian Cat denomination structure — fractional crowns in four or five sizes — was designed to attract collectors priced out of full-ounce platinum. KM#467 corresponds to the 1/25 oz fractional, the smallest and lowest-premium entry point in the 1989 platinum issue.
