The Isle of Man's annual cat coin program, running continuously since 1988, has produced more feline varieties than any comparable national series. The Himalayan appeared in the 2005 rotation — a breed that American and British cat fancy associations only formally recognized as distinct from the Colorpoint Persian in the 1950s and 1980s respectively, a classification dispute that still divides registries today.
