John George III ruled Saxony from 1680 until his death in 1691, a period defined largely by his aggressive military posture and his role as a leading Protestant prince in the Empire. He committed Saxon forces to the relief of Vienna in 1683 against the Ottoman siege — a campaign that consumed enormous state resources and drove persistent pressure on Saxon mints to maintain fractional silver output for troop wages and provisioning costs.
KM#570 spans the full eleven years of his reign with no documented die break in the series.
