Reverse description The reverse bears a multi-line Latin inscription filling the entire field, commemorating the bicentenary of the Protestant Reformation. The legend reads GRATA REFORMATIONIS ECCLESIAE RECORDATIO, meaning 'Grateful remembrance of the Reformation of the Church,' followed by the biblical citation ESRAE VIII.35, the date MDCCXVII (1717), D. 31. OCT., and the initials I. 1. T. The text is arranged in seven horizontal lines within a plain field, bordered by a finely milled outer rim. The inscription references the 200th anniversary of Luther's posting of the Ninety-Five Theses on 31 October 1517.
