| Obverse description | Central mandala-style geometric design composed of intersecting rectangular frames, evoking a traditional Nepali yantra or palace plan motif. The name and regnal titles of King Birendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev are inscribed in Devanagari script within the compartments of the central field. Religious and royal symbols — including a conch shell, a wheel (chakra), a lotus, and a trident (trishula) — are positioned in the four cardinal corners of the design. The Nepali Bikram Sambat date 2052 appears at the base within the lower register. The entire composition is enclosed within a beaded border. |

| Reverse description | Facing bust of the Lord Buddha rendered in high relief at the center of the coin, depicted in a serene and meditative expression with an ushnisha (cranial protuberance) and elongated earlobes, wearing a draped robe. A plain circular halo or nimbus surrounds the head. The legend '1/20 OZ 999.9 FINE GOLD' arcs along the upper periphery, while 'NEPAL 1995' appears to the lower left and 'LORD BUDDHA' to the lower right of the effigy. The word 'ASARFI' is inscribed in large Latin capitals along the lower rim. The reverse field has a dark frosted proof finish contrasting with the polished portrait. |
