Obverse description The obverse features the Mexican national coat of arms at center, depicting a Mexican golden eagle perched upon a prickly-pear cactus growing from a rocky islet, devouring a serpent in its beak and talons. The eagle is rendered in high relief with finely detailed featherwork. Flanking the cactus are laurel and oak branches tied at the base with a ribbon. The circular legend 'ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS' arcs along the upper periphery in Latin capitals, bordered by a fine toothed rim.
