Reverse description Three royal crowns arranged in a triangular formation (one above, two below), separated by three fleurs-de-lis, all within a plain field. The mint workshop letter appears at the centre of the triangle formed by the crowns. The circumferential legend SIT. NOMEN. DOMINI. BENEDICTVM, meaning 'Blessed be the name of the Lord', runs around the periphery with the date below, separated by a beaded inner border. The overall composition is symmetrical and emblematic of the French royal coinage of the period.
