| Obverse description | Aged laureate bust of Louis XV facing left, with the base of the neck draped, rendered in the refined portrait style of C-R. Roëttiers. The effigy occupies the central field, presenting the king in his elderly years with finely engraved facial features. The encircling Latin legend reads LUD. XV. D. G. FR. ET NAV. REX., identifying the monarch as King of France and Navarre by the grace of God. |
