| Obverse description | Allegorical figure of the Holy Mother Church seated facing, draped and radiant with a nimbus of rays emanating from her head, resting upon clouds, holding a book in her left hand with a small architectural structure (the Holy Door) visible to her right. The legend BEN. XIV. P. M. A. IVB. 1750 runs around the periphery, referencing Pope Benedict XIV and the Jubilee year. The composition is rendered in a fine Baroque engraving style characteristic of mid-18th century Roman papal coinage. |
