| Obverse description | Four large Chữ Hán (Chinese) characters arranged in cruciform order around a central square perforation: 紹 (Thiệu) above, 治 (Trị) below, 通 (Thông) to the right, and 寶 (Bảo) to the left, reading clockwise as 紹治通寶 — the reign title and denomination legend of Emperor Thiệu Trị. The characters are rendered in bold, deeply incuse relief typical of Vietnamese cast silver coinage of the Nguyễn dynasty. The flat field is unadorned, and the square central hole is framed by a raised square boss. |

| Reverse description | Plain, unadorned reverse field centered on a raised square boss framing the characteristic square perforation, itself surrounded by a concentric incuse ring. The broad flat field beyond the ring is featureless, terminating at a plain rim. This austere design is characteristic of Nguyễn dynasty cast silver tiền coinage, where the reverse carries no inscriptions or decorative motifs. |
