Obverse description Within a beaded circle, the quartered arms of Salzburg impaled with the personal arms of Archbishop Wolf Dietrich von Raitenau, surmounted by an archiepiscopal galero (ecclesiastical hat). The Latin legend, reading clockwise from approximately two o'clock, expands as WOLFGANGVS THEODERICVS DEI GRATIA ARCHIEPISCOPVS SALISBVRGENSIS APOSTOLICAE SEDIS LEGATVS, with the abbreviated legend interrupted below by AREPS.

Reverse description Saint Rupert, patron of Salzburg, depicted in episcopal vestments and mitre, seated three-quarter left upon a throne, holding in his right hand a salt box (symbolic of Salzburg's salt trade) and in his left a crozier. The circumferential Latin legend, reading clockwise from approximately twelve o'clock and divided at top by the mitre, expands as SANCTVS RVDBERTVS EPISCOPVS SALISBVRGENSIS.
