Obverse description Right-facing draped bust of Elector Maximilian III Joseph within a circular Latin legend. The portrait depicts the ruler in contemporary aristocratic dress, rendered in the baroque style typical of mid-18th century Bavarian coinage. The obverse legend, abbreviated in Latin, proclaims his full titles as Duke of both Bavarias, Arch-Steward and Prince-Elector of the Holy Roman Empire, and Landgrave of Leuchtenburg. The bust fills the central field with authority, the truncation appearing at the lower edge.
