Obverse description Crowned oval shield bearing the quartered arms of Bavaria and the Palatinate, with a central escutcheon of the imperial orb, the whole supported by two lions rampant. The collar of the Order of the Golden Fleece is suspended beneath the shield, with the date appearing in the lower field. The encircling legend identifies the ruler in abbreviated Latin.
