Reverse description The quartered electoral arms of Saxony displayed on a large baroque shield surmounted by a crowned helmet with elaborate mantling. The shield incorporates the distinctive barry of ten or and sable for Saxony with a crancelin, alongside quarterings for Juliers, Cleves, Berg, and other dynastic territories. Two lions serve as supporters flanking the shield in the lower field. The mint master's initials CF appear on either side of the shield in the lower field. The date 1683 appears at the top of the field, and a continuous Latin legend encircles the design: SAC ROM IMP ARCHIM ET ELECT.
