Obverse description Armored half-length bust of John George I, Elector of Saxony, facing right, clad in elaborately detailed plate armor with ruffled collar visible beneath. The Elector holds an upright sword over his right shoulder and grasps the Saxon electoral hat in his left hand. A beaded inner circle frames the central effigy, with the continuous Latin legend encircling the outer field reading IOHAN. GEORG. D. G. DVX SAX. IVL. CLIV. ET. MONTI. A small cross potent serves as the legend's punctuation device at the top of the coin.
