Obverse description Armored half-length effigy of Duke Johann Friedrich of Württemberg facing right, clad in plate armor with a draped mantle, holding a commander's baton; a plumed helmet rests to his right. The date 1624 appears in the lower exergue beneath an ornamental arabesque border. The Latin legend encircles the field along all four edges of the square flan, reading: .TEC IOHANN:FRID:D:G:DVX · WIR:, identifying the sitter as Duke Johann Friedrich by the Grace of God, Duke of Württemberg. The portrait is rendered in a detailed early Baroque style characteristic of the Stuttgart mint's output.
