Reverse description The central field displays the quartered arms of Saxony within a beaded inner circle, depicting the characteristic barry and ruly coat of arms of the Wettin dynasty. Surrounding the central shield, twelve smaller escutcheons bearing the various territorial arms of the duchy are arranged radially, each separated from the next and framed within the broad circular legend. The reverse legend, running along the outer border in Latin, references the titles of Landgrave of Thuringia and Margrave of Meissen. The overall composition reflects the elaborate heraldic style typical of late sixteenth-century German Thaler coinage.
