The date appears in the lower field. The entire composition is enclosed within an inner circle, with the circumferential legend divided at the top by the mitre: IOAN IAC D G AR EPS SALZ APo SE LEG, an abbreviation of the archbishop's full Latin titulature proclaiming him by the grace of God Archbishop of Salzburg and Legate of the Apostolic See.
