| Obverse lettering | D G FRIDERICVS WILHELMVS DVX SAXONIAE |
| Reverse description | The reverse bears a multi-line funerary inscription within a beaded inner circle, recording the birth and death dates of Duke Frederick William I. The legend commemorates his birth on 25 April 1562 and his death on 7 July 1602, with the hour of death also noted. A Latin religious motto encircles the inscription in the outer border, invoking divine preservation through the word of God. The arrangement and lettering are consistent with memorial coinage conventions of early seventeenth-century German princely states. |
