| Additional information |
Nassau was reorganized as a unified duchy in 1806 under the Confederation of the Rhine, consolidating what had been a patchwork of independent Nassau lines into a single Napoleonic client state. Frederick August, who had governed Nassau-Usingen, became the first ruler of this reconstituted entity. The 1809 coinage was among the earliest issued under the new ducal authority, establishing a monetary identity for a polity that had existed in its current form for barely three years.
