Reverse description The reverse is entirely filled with a funerary inscription in Roman capitals arranged in six horizontal lines within a dotted inner circle, recording the birth and death dates of Duke Christian of Liegnitz-Brieg: born at Ohlau (OLAV.) in the year 1618 (A.C. MDCXIIX) on 19 April (XIX. APRIL), and died at Liegnitz (LIGNICI) in the year 1672 (A.C. MDCLXXII) on 29 February (XXIX. FEBR.). Elaborate foliate scrollwork cartouches in the Baroque manner ornament both the upper and lower portions of the central inscription panel. The surrounding peripheral legend, reading CHRISTIANVS D.B. DVX SIL. LIG. BREG. ET. WOL., giving the duke's full title as Duke of Silesia, Liegnitz, Brieg and Wohlau, runs between a beaded inner border and a milled outer rim.
