Zürich remained a sovereign city-republic within the Swiss Confederation until 1798, and its silver coinage was struck on civic authority alone — no cantonal or federal oversight existed. The 1773 date places this piece squarely in the final quarter-century of that independence, before the Helvetic Republic dissolved the old order entirely.
