Obverse description The crowned arms of Solothurn — a quartered shield bearing the city's heraldic device — occupy the center of the field, surmounted by a displayed double-headed eagle. The date 16-23 is divided to either side of the shield, with the city initials S and O flanking it below. The whole composition is enclosed within a beaded inner circle, with the circular Latin legend running along the outer rim.
